The human behind Gia Web Design

My interest in web design started back in the year 2000, with a summer course recommended by my father (thanks, dad!). That was the moment when I fell in love with HTML & CSS and learned the syntax, while building my first website using Notepad(!). I continued my journey of self-discovery by obtaining a Master’s degree in Web Technologies and entered the work field with a hunger for learning more about what it has become my daily job, my passion.

A wise man once said: “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life” and after a decade of designing and coding, I couldn’t agree more. There’s always something new to learn and experiment and I never hesitated to try something new when it comes to designing / coding. Progress comes with change.

Over the last decade I had the chance to expand my work experience on two different European markets. In Romania I learned how to design & develop websites, while work in London, UK  exponentially increased my knowledge thanks to exposure to different web design agencies and a multitude of in-house practices.

My ability to design and code websites from scratch helped me better understand different levels of client’s needs. Most of my projects are WordPress-based websites, but various daily requests exposed me to other PHP-based platforms like Joomla! with its eCommerce extension VirtueMart, plus other custom-made content management systems.

Websites go hand in hand with newsletter templates and online banners. I’m constantly spicing up my busy schedule with the creation of animated & static banners. My expertise covers designing, testing and coding email templates in pure HTML or directly building them in MailChimp, Adestra, DotMailer, Constant Contact or Vertical Response.

There’s one thing that London particularly taught me to love: diversity. In the last 6 years, I had the chance to directly be involved in project pitching, budget planning, client technical training and – more recently – managing freelancers.
